Since becoming a Johnny I have definitely learned to break out of my comfort zone. Adjusting to college was hard, but once taking that first step to becoming involved, I feel like I have grown in more ways than I could ever have imagined. Experiencing new things with new people in a new place is definitely scary, but once you push yourself and push your limits, the outcome is greater than you could ever imagine.
St.John's University is different than most colleges because of our community. There are so many opportunities here on campus, especially being in New York City. The people that go to this school take pride in it, students always come back to work here after graduation, and when I talk about St.John's to people I know they always know at least one person who went here and they are able to share the amazing stories that they have had.
I chose St.John's because the second I stepped on campus I felt like I belonged here. Everyone that I had come in contact with while visiting and touring made me feel so welcomed. I fell in love with the School of Education and all the wonderful opportunities it had for me.
My favorite memory so far at St.John's has been taking the wonderful opportunity of the global passport program. Going to Rome, Italy for a week was something that I could truly never forget. While there we continued the St.John's Vincentian mission, even abroad, and made and delivered sandwiches to the homeless in Vatican City. This was definitely something that made me view life differently and was by far my favorite moment. Being able to make someones night is truly an indescribable feeling.
