Tour Guide at St. John's University
Class of 2021
My favorite memory as a Johnny was when my parents and I visited SJU for the first time. Coming from a differnt country, we were amazed by the energetic environment around the city and the campus. I remember my parents talking about how they wish they had a campus like SJU and the oppourtunities it had on offer. The fact that I am the first one in my family to attend such a diverse university simply made me realize how lucky I am to be a part of this wonderful community.
What makes SJU different is the sense of energy on campus. As soon as you step your foot on campus you can tell that there are always some sort of activities going on. Also, faculty members, professors and students are really passionate about what they do which radiates positive energy for everyone around campus.
I have definitely changed since becoming a Johnny. I used to be a shy person who did not talk very often. However, after spending some time in such a vibrant community, I have definitely become a person who is willing to talk to anyone. I am also more involved with different clubs and organizations around campus because of the wide range of opportunites around campus.
As an international student, it was really tough for me to decide where I wanted to go for university. However, I did some research and found out that SJU was one of the most diverse universities in the nation. This made me realize that I will be interacting with people from different countries and states. I also wanted to experience what living in New York City- the world capital is really like.
