My favorite memory thus far at St. John's would most definitely be the tree lighting ceremony of my freshman year. The fireworks were incredible, and much more elaborate than we all expected. It was heartwarming to be able to celebrate such a family-oriented holiday as a collective student body.
Unlike other schools, St. John's continually strives to make all students feel welcomed and valued at the university. There is a constant effort to represent as many passions, ethnic backgrounds and major-based clubs as possible.
Since becoming a Johnny, I have become far more outgoing. I do not only find myself meeting new people often, but I am drawn to push myself out of my comfort zone. Attempting new activities, spending time with new people, and venturing off to new and unknown places has become a regular routine.
St. John's stood out to me as a University because it welcomes each student with a warm, family-like, campus feel, while also being a short distance from the city. It is the perfect blend of comfort and opportunity.
