Since becoming a Johnny I see myself as a more outgoing and vocal person. SJU has taught me to come out of my shell and explore everything around me. College is what you make it and doing as much activities as I can is how I live the college life to the fullest. SJU has so many clubs and activities that you can be apart of, you'll never be bored. Since being at SJU, I have become more daring at trying new things because there is so many new things this school has to offer.
SJU is different from all others schools for many different reasons. The two the stick out to me is being a city school in such a big setting. You would never know just by looking at the campus that it has so much to offer. Another thing that makes SJU different is its mission statement. They focus a lot on service and being Vincentian, which I feel is a big part of learning how to help others.
The main reason I chose SJU was because of its reputable programs and excellent science courses for my major. I also chose SJU for its location and beautiful scenery. Being at SJU makes me feel like I am in the city but at the same time in my own little community because of how self sufficient the campus is. Everything is available at your fingertips and I love that I don't have to travel far for entertainment.
My favorite memory as a Johnny was the first soccer game I attended. Being a freshman in this big place can be a little scary but once I saw how all the students get together at these events, I knew I was home. Everyone had school spirit, there was nonstop cheering and it just all caused so much excitement. Going to that one game opened up my eyes about being involved and that we are all alike in our journey through college. The unity that we have at this school for any event would make anyone want to come here.
