I have met so many amazing people and made many new friendships since becoming a student here at SJU. Coming from a small, all-girls, Catholic school, a big school was definitely a change and I have learned to quickly adapt to new environments. I have also become a much more active leader by taking advantage of all of the amazing extra-curricular and service opportunities SJU has to offer.
I chose SJU because of its ideal location; it was a perfect distance from my house to be get the "away from home" college experience and take advantage of all of NYC has to offer, but I can also head home on the weekends if I want to by hopping on a train. It's beautiful campus and and diverse community of students was also an instant attraction. In addition, the school has a fantastic reputation and such strong alumni networking connections that are so beneficial in the workforce.
SJU is so unique compared to other schools because students are able to get the traditional "college experience" with a picturesque campus, but at the same time be only a subway ride away from the all the advantages New York City has to offer. SJU also has a unique mixture of both commuter and resident students as well as hundreds of different programs so there is something to offer for everyone.
My favorite memory so far here at SJU has been our basketball team's Tip-Off to mark the beginning of the season this fall. I'm a big sports fan and it was great to see the entire SJU community bond and come out and show some school pride in such an exciting way.
