Tour Guide at St. John's University
Class of 2020
Hometown: Queens, NY
Becoming a Johnny gave me a whole new global perspective. While being able to attend one of the top universities for campus diversity, I have met students and faculty from all over the world. Its fascinating witnessing so many students from different places working towards similar goals. It made me appreciate the big world we live in.
My favorite memory as a Johnny so far would have to be performing at my first basketball game at Madison Square Garden. Being on the dance team granted me the opportunity, and its truly an indescribable feeling seeing all of our fellow students, faculty, and alumni come together to show their SJU pride in such a big arena.
St John's really gives you the best of both worlds. Stretching 104 acres through Jamaica, Queens you certainly get a campus feel but at the same time you're only 11 miles away from the city feel of Manhattan.
Coming from a very small town upstate, I was looking for a change of environment. I wanted a big campus while being in a large urban area which fit St. John's description perfectly. As a business major, I wanted to be close to New York City so I would be exposed to plenty of internship opportunities.
