Since becoming a Johnny I have learned so much about myself as a student, leader, and person. The lessons I learned are so valuable and I have gained so much self confidence through the leadership positions I've held with organizations on campus. I have found my interests and really been pushed out of my comfort zone to go out and try new things. Having a supportive foundation while your in college is so crucial in order to be successful and St.Johns has provided me with tools and skills that have changed me for the better.
SJU is different from other schools because we are such a diverse campus. Being so diverse gives our school an advantage over others and give students the oppurtunity to learn about different cultures and ways of life through their peers. SJU is also different because it is located in NYC but still has a campus which is very beneficial to students. It gives us the opportunity to have our own enclosed community but we also are still really close to Manhattan which opens up job opportunities and the opportunity to venture out and explore NYC. St.Johns is also a tight knit community. The class sizes are fairly small and the professors and staff truly care about students and want them to be the best they can be.
I choose SJU because when I stepped on campus I instantly felt like at was at home. The community is so diverse and everyone was so incredibly welcoming. It was filled with so much opportunity for growth and success and I knew it was the perfect place for me.
My favorite memory as a Johnny is Relay for Life. I did this freshman year and I can't wait to do it in the years to come. I love how so many members of St.Johns student body comes together and works to fundraise for the American Cancer Foundation. Having our community come together and work hard to benefit families who are affected by cancer is so beautiful and touches the hearts of so many people!
