I definitely have changed since becoming a Johnny. Freshman year was a huge learning experience for me. I discovered what worked for me in terms of putting in time for studying and homework. I figured out how to balance having a social life while still accomplishing my short term goals. I also grew stronger internally, and developed a sense of self-purpose.
SJU is different from other schools in the area due to the abundance of opportunities here. We truly have something for everyone. There are countless clubs, organizations, programs, trips, and other groups you can join, and a surplus of special events that are hosted here. The best part is- if St. John's doesn't have what you're interested in, you can always start it yourself!
I fell in love with St. John's during my overnight visit. (Fun fact: I shadowed Student Ambassador President Jamee!) My visit gave me a great insight into life at SJU, what the campus looked like, programs offered, the overall atmosphere, and SJU's values. If you're wondering what life as a Johnny is like, the overnight visit is a great place to start!
My favorite memory as a Johnny would have to be studying abroad for a week the end of my freshman year in Rome. It was by far the best decision I have ever made. I made new friends, saw amazing Roman sites, had an audience with Pope Francis, and immersed myself in a new culture. Eating Gelato every day wasn't too bad either!
