I chose SJU for it's involvement in the community locally and across the globe. Through the Ozanam Scholars Program, I am able to participate in service trips as well as learn more about the communities I am serving by immersing myself in their cultures. I also chose St. John's because of their School of Risk Management and all the opportunities it gives.
Since becoming a Johnny I have become a more aware person. I was never really interested in current events until I came to St. John's. Now, I want to know what's going on in the world and what my role with it.
SJU is different because of it's emphasis on community service, social justice, and the Vincentian mission. This is part of why St. John's is so welcoming to all. Not only does St. John's strive for great academics, but it also works to make each person a well rounded individual.
My favorite memory as a Johnny would be my first concert with the Chamber Music Society. I was so happy when I got to showcase my hard work to all my friends and share that part of my life with others.
