St. John's has that stereotypical, movie scene college feel while you're on campus between the great lawn and the beautiful buildings. Yet, the second you step off campus you have easy access to the greatest city in the world, filled with opportunity.
My favorite memory at SJU was getting invited to attend the President's Dinner at the Waldorf Astoria. I was asked to represent the Catholic Scholars Program at the event. I had the opportunity to wear a gown and get all dressed up. I got to be apart of the beautiful award ceremony that happened prior to the dinner and enjoy a star-studded evening.
While looking at colleges, I was very stubborn and only looked at schools with a six-year Doctor of Pharmacy program. Some of my friends in high school would talk about this 'chill' that you're supposed to feel when you step on the campus of the school you belong at. I thought they were crazy until I visited St. John's. The moment i stepped on campus for my first visit I felt it, I got that 'chill.' Once I got accepted to the university's Pharmacy program, the choice was clear.
Since I started St. John's I have become a part of something that is bigger than myself. I was always motivated to do more, but St. John's gives me the initiative and the resources to go beyond anything I ever dreamed of. Becoming a Johnny has made me dream BIGGER.
