Tour Guide at St. John's University
Class of 2021
Hometown: Canton, CT
Since becoming a Johnny, one thing about me that has changed has been my ability to be more social. At my old high school, everyone knew everyone so there wasn't a need to meet new people. Coming to SJU, where the campus creates a very big community, as well as being 45 minutes from one of the biggest cities in the world, has allowed me to get better at meeting new people and integrate into the SJU community.
My favorite memory as a Johnny would be going to the basketball games. With basketball being our school's biggest sport, the atmosphere that is created in Carnasecca Arena or at Madison Square Garden is a very exciting thing to be a part of.
What I think makes SJU different from other schools is how important the school's community is to everyone. Whether you are deciding if you want to go, currently go, or have gone to SJU you are a part of a huge community, and through this community, you can find friends, mentors, help with your homework, or even your first job.
One of the main reasons I chose to attend SJU was the opportunity to live so close to New York City. Being from a small town in Connecticut being able to go to school next door to one of the biggest cities in the world was very intriguing. The city offers many fun adventures on the weekends and its connection with the alumni of SJU allows students to connect with many large companies that are found within the city.
