My favorite memory as a Johnny is meeting my roommates on my first day at St. John’s while moving in. Upon meeting them I immediately felt more at home on campus and became excited about all the possibilities for adventure there were for us while being at St. John’s. My roommates and I have had some amazing experiences since that first day, between adventures in the city, joining new clubs and organizations together, and going to plenty of soccer and basketball games. Becoming a Johnny has given me so many opportunities to meet new people to take advantage of all that St. John’s has to offer with!
St. John’s is different from other universities because of all the amazing opportunities that are available for students whether it be on campus or off campus in nearby New York City. St. John’s provides a beautiful typical college campus but with the added advantages that come with having one of the greatest cities in the world just a train ride away. St. John’s close proximity to New York City gives students an advantage in obtaining valuable internships and career opportunities that aren’t available at other schools. SJU allows students to experience personal and educational growth in a way that is unique and extremely valuable.
I choose St. John’s after stepping onto campus on Accepted Students Day and witnessing the overwhelming amount of school spirit exhibited by students. St. John’s automatically felt like a place I could call home as such a welcoming and vibrant community. The opportunities SJU has both on campus and off campus in New York City gives students the opportunity to take advantage of so many new experiences which I envisioned myself making the most of. I can honestly say choosing SJU has been one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life so far!
Since becoming a Johnny I have changed in becoming increasingly daring in branching out of my comfort zone, both personally and educationally. St. John’s has encouraged me to explore and join new and interesting clubs and organizations on campus where I have met some amazing new people who I would not have had the opportunity to connect with. I have tested my comfort zone educationally since becoming a Johnny in taking new and intellectually engaging courses in which I am able to form strong relationships with both my peers and professors due to smaller class sizes. St. John’s has definitely changed me for the better as I go through amazing new adventures on a daily basis both on and off campus.
