Tour Guide at St. John's University
Class of 2021
Hometown: Farmington, CT
St. John's University was the choice for me because while, yes, it was visually diverse, had a beautifully manicured campus, and had a great department dedicated to my major- I found attributes about SJU that other universities I visited just did not have. St. John's gave me an immediate sense of community and belonging. The university puts such a stress on freshman inclusion, which was such a great way to kick off my years here.
St. John's vision of being a catholic, Vincentian, metropolitan, and global university stands to be true through all activities, classes, and extra curricular on campus. I am honored to be a Johnny.
I have been changed so immensely by my experiences here at St. John's. Mentally, I have become focused. Confusion that I've had with my major and future plans were clouded, and are now secured. With help of career services, I have the guidance that I need. My DNY class has helped me to be more aware of the New York scene, which can be very different compared to what I have grown up around in Connecticut.
My favorite memory as a Johnny has to be my first winter festival as a freshman. I had only been a Johnny for a few months, yet I irresistibility felt so connected to the community. It was a time of just great spirits, positivity, and ultimately the shared goal of enjoying the vibes before the rush of finals. It was honestly such a memorable moment.
