Major: Childhood Education
My favorite memory as a Johnny so far would have to be meeting my roommates. I went completely random in choosing them and we ended up being such close friends. They have helped and supported me through my freshman year of college and we are living together again for sophomore year!
SJU is different from other schools because of our location and diversity. Being so close to New York City, students travel from all over the world to attend St. John's. There are endless opportunities for SJU students located in the city. Being so diverse, students get to meet others that are different than them and I believe that gives our SJU community its friendly atmosphere. Everybody fits in and can find a reason to call St. John's home.
Yes, I believe I have changed since becoming a Johnny. I have a harder work ethic, am more motivated to excel in my schoolwork, and more eager to join extra curricular activities. The St. John's environment of positivity and support in both academics and clubs/organizations has motivated me to apply myself in all aspects of college life. I want to achieve more and make the absolute best of my time here at St. John's.
I chose SJU for many reasons, including their global opportunities, education program, and involvement in student life. I knew I wanted to travel abroad during college, so St. John's global programs really interested me. Their education program allows me to earn my masters degree in childhood education and special education in only five years which was a major plus. Finally the involvement in student life at St. John's is tremendous. There is a club or organization for everyone no matter their interests. SJU has so many events and fundraisers for students to meet new people and feel at home on campus!
