Tour Guide at St. John's University
Class of 2021
Hometown: Bronx, NY
Minor: Musical Theatre
Since becoming a Johnny, I've learned to become more productive and getting things done in a timely manner, as well as learning how to interact with different people. Through all of the classes I have taken and clubs and activities I have been a part of, they have taught me many different skills such as time management skills and people skills that I can use in my life now and after graduation.
The thing that makes St. John's different from all the other colleges and universities in New York is feeling of being at home while on campus. Many of the colleges here in New York, especially within the five boroughs don't have a campus that is all in one location. A majority of them you have to walk from building to building, however these buildings are either blocks away since everything is in a different building within the city. St John's however has everything you need for your education in and social endeavors of you college career in one central location. It give you a feeling of being at home and it makes us feel more like a community since everything is no more than a few minutes away from each other.
When making my college decision, I had my heart set on going to Iona College in New Rochelle, however when I visited their campus I didn't get the feelings I thought I was going to feel for Iona. When it came time for my tour of St. John's, I knew right away it was the place for me., Not only did the student ambassador giving the tour make me feel welcomed, but I felt welcomed by everyone who I came in contact with that day, a feeling I didn't feel at Iona. I immediately felt at home here at St. John's and three years later, I don't think I could picture myself going to school anywhere else.
Hands down, my favorite moment so far as a Johnny is when I got my big in Alpha Psi Omega, The National Theatre Honor Society here on campus. My big, who is also a fellow ambassador, has always been there for me through everything I needed whether that be school related, theatre related, or life related. From the moment I met her my freshman year during the Addams family Musical, we've had a genuine connection that will last a lifetime.
