Tour Guide at St. John's University
Class of 2019
Hometown: Chester, NY
Major: Advertising Communication
As a transfer student, I wanted to make sure the school that I chose to finish my degree would satisfy my academic, social, and spiritual needs. After I visited the school and was given the option of going into a major and a program I was passionate about, it became clear that I belonged here. The admissions team was extremely helpful in making sure I had full access to the resources I would need to transition smoothly. I also loved the fact that all cultures and religions are personified on this campus and I have an opportunity to become friends with people who are from all walks of life.
Since becoming a Johnny in Spring '17, I can honestly say this is the happiest I have been at school. I am more enthusiastic about being in school and I have a lot of pride in my school. I am more invested in extracurricular activities and my studies; my GPA is the highest in my academic career since transferring.
SJU is different because once you walk on campus you feel the buzz that everyone really enjoys being there. When I see people on campus, everyone is smiling and laughing. There's a sense of community between everyone and we all want to see the best in each other. Also, the faculty and staff's top priority is to see you succeed, the support system that I have here is incredible. You will always have a lifeline on campus.
My favorite memory as a Johnny was getting my acceptance letter into the Student Ambassadors Program. I had finally accomplished two of my goals: become more involved on campus and become a student leader. I am now in a position where I can give myself to someone and hopefully be a reason why someone would come to SJU and their experience is just as great (or even better) than mine thus far.
