Since becoming a Johnny, I have become more confident in who I am and more open/welcoming to others. I’ve definitely come out of my shell and try to get involved as much as possible.
SJU is different due to it’s diversity. There are students from all across the country and from all corners of the world. Students get to meet others that are different from themselves and I think that gives St. John’s its welcoming and homey feel.
When I went on a tour here at St. John’s, the ambassador giving the tour was so passionate about the school and she really influenced my final decision. Also, I knew that I wanted to be in/around New York City, but I wanted to be at a school that had a campus-like feel to it. Coming from Long Island, I wanted to be far away enough from home that I could live on campus and have the “traditional” college experience of being away from home. St. John’s was the perfect solution and I couldn’t be any happier.
My favorite memory as a Johnny was participating in the Global Passport program my freshman year. Going to Rome with some of my best friends was an amazing experience and influenced my decision to go abroad for a semester. I met new people at the campus in Rome who are now some of my closest friends. It was definitely an experience that I am grateful for and will never forget.
