Since becoming a Johnny, I have become more open to trying new things. I wanted to make my experience at St. John's memorable, and after hearing so many people raving about certain clubs or organizations they were involved in, it made me want to do the same.
My favorite memory as a Johnny was the tree lighting ceremony my freshman year. I had gone with a few friends, and while it was absolutely freezing, it was so much fun to be all huddled together watching the fireworks after several groups performed. It was such a positive and festive environment.
I chose SJU because for me, it felt like a home for me from the first time I stepped on the campus. I enjoyed that it was close enough to the city to travel to, all within being its own little community with a comfortable sized campus.
SJU is different in the sense that despite a large amount of people coming to campus, there is still such a large tie to the campus. Most people are involved in something, which makes networking with them and making other friends easier. The fact that so many people are involved ties into the close community vibe the campus gives off.
