Tour Guide at St. John's University
Class of 2020
Hometown: West Islip, NY
Major: Undecided within Business
St. John's is what I would consider an "urban school" but with an enclosed campus, radiating the sense of community. The emphasis on service and programs offered were different than those of any of the other colleges I looked into.
I chose SJU primarily because of the diversity. I love learning about new cultures and hearing about people's experiences. I felt like it would also be very important in the Business World to have an understanding of people from all walks of life. I love the location, too. It's super easy to get into the city, which is crucial for potential jobs/internships. Lastly, I was very impressed with the reputation of the University along with the high placement rate of employment for students within 6 months of graduation.
Since becoming a Johnny I've been more open-minded. I've reached out of my "comfort-zone" and have taken advantage of opportunities that would've never been available to me. I've made great friends and have built friendships that will last a lifetime.
Since I'm only in my second semester at St. John's I have many more memories to come, but as of now I would hands down say that Tip-Off was my favorite! It was so exciting for all SJU students to come together and have a fun time cheering on the men's and women's basketball teams. The sense of school spirit was unreal- and has lasted with me ever since!
