Tour Guide at St. John's University
Class of 2021
Hometown: Baton Rouge, LA
What makes SJU different is our mission. Our focus to be Catholic, Vincentian, Metropolitan, and Global sets us apart from other universities in that we value faith and service in New York City and all over the world. SJU does an incredible job in making sure its students are well rounded and ready for whatever the future has in store for them and the fact that they do it with our mission in mind separates them from any other institute.
Since becoming a Johnny, I have become more confident and comfortable in being who I am and who I am called to be. St. John's accepts and welcomes everyone exactly the way that they are ...not only that, but St. John's encourages diversity and individualism.
I chose St. John's because I wanted to go somewhere full of possibilities and opportunities that could help me grow as a student and as a person. At SJU, I found that and so much more. When I stepped on campus for my visit, I felt that it was truly where I was meant to be. The people were so welcoming and I knew that I had found my new home at St. John's.
My favorite memory as a Johnny to date is attending my first Tip Off. The energy and the sense of community among the students and other fans in Carnesecca was unbeatable. The men's and women's basketball teams were introduced and then Dave East performed. Everywhere I looked, I saw SJU pride and it was a wonderful thing.
