Tour Guide at St. John's University
Class of 2023
Hometown: Hamden, CT
Major: Quantitative Risk and Insurance
When looking for a University, I wanted a school that had my major of risk management and insurance. The School of Risk Management and Insurance is one of the best in the country and highly regarded. Graduating from the School of Risk Management you not only leave with a business degree but also with many connections to well known insurance companies.
As a freshman I recently joined Gamma Iota Sigma, Alpha Iota Chapter at St. John's University, which is an academic fraternity for risk management and insurance students. During University Service Day, we helped a nonprofit organization called Community Service Made Easy to paint artwork that will be hung in the pediatric hospitals in Queens. This was my first positive experience with an organization on St. John’s University campus, because it was one of the first events which I participated in and got to meet other risk management students while painting artwork for young kids to look at in hospitals. It was amazing to do something fun like coloring while still giving back and getting to know new people.
The fact that SJU is close to a major city, and had a diverse campus. In terms of location, because of the Queens and Manhattan campus I could have not picked a better school that was close to the city, but also has gated campus. The St. John’s University campus is also so diverse that while your in class you can learn so many different types of perspectives and backgrounds on where people are from.
Since becoming a Johnny I have grown to be more independent and become more vocal in what matters to me.
