My favorite memory as a johnny would have to be the first MSG basketball game. Since I am not the biggest fan of basketball, I was reluctant to go to any of the games. Once I went to this game as MSG I regretted my decision. The seats were awesome and the game was so much fun. I had a great time going with my friends and it was awesome to be surrounded by a bunch of johnnies who were fired up about the game. It is my favorite memory thus far and I can't wait to go to the games for the rest of the season.
What makes SJU different is this inherent sense of family. SJU has a great sense of community, which also is much like a family. No matter where you go on campus people are always friendly and open. There will always be someone there to hold the door open for you and never a reason to feel alone.
I origionally struggled with choosing SJU. I am from Long Island and throughout the whole college process one thing remained the same; I wanted to go far away from home. Due to this I was very reluctant to even consider SJU. Despite this, I chose to participiate in my schools on site for SJU in which they offered me a fantastic scholarship. Once receiving that scholarship I looked into SJU and saw all the other great things they had to offer, one of them being the Ozanam Scholars program. The Ozanam Scholars Program is a program that focuses on social justice. Once I was accepted into this program I knew that SJU was the place for me.
Since becoming a johnny, I have become more interested events occurring globally. Since we are a Global Campus, we are encouraged to not only explore the world, but attempt to make a difference in it. SJU makes this easy by providing so many study abroad and service opportunities, that I have found my self turning into a more global citizen already.
