Tour Guide at St. John's University
Class of 2020
Hometown: Glendale, NY
Major: Radiological Sciences
Since attending SJU, I've become a more independent person. Since I live on campus, I had to learn how to manage everything on my own and guide myself through whatever situations I was faced with. I've also become a lot more outgoing since attending SJU- I'm not afraid to go outside of my comfort zone anymore, which has allowed me to learn so much more about myself and become a better person overall.
SJU has a lot of qualities that set it aside from other universities. First, SJU is one of the most diverse schools in the nation. I've made friends with people of all different kinds of ethnicities, religions, and backgrounds and it's so interesting to learn how different everyone is. The class size at SJU is also perfect- it isn't too small or too big of a class which allows students to have a close relationship with their professors and mentors. SJU also has so many events going on around campus which is great for students because it allows not only the residents, but also commuters to get involved in the campus community.
Definitely Tip Off. It's great to see the whole community come together in Carnesecca to celebrate and get pumped for the upcoming basketball season.
As a New Yorker and someone who went to high school in Manhattan, I had no intentions of leaving the city. SJU has the best of both worlds in the sense that we are still SO close to the city and we are able to have an amazing community on campus unlike most universities in Manhattan. Besides that, their medical-based programs caught my eye which is something that is MAJORLY important for me and my future goals.
